The story by Daniel Cheong age 13 goes:
Biscuits. You do no need to imagine them because they are already on the kitchen table as you walk in. A dead hamster. You do not need to smell it because it is already beside the old rusted, metal dustbin, staring at you with its blank eyes as you hold your breathe in disgust. And buttons, or rather a button. You do not need to feel it because it sits on your white Goldlion shirt, itching you out.
You must be thinking why I am saying all these rubbish to you. But hey don’t you go to and fro from work and end up at the end of the day, staring blankly at these three items?
The whole point is that you are blinded from the real meaning of life.
The biscuit was meant to feed you, the button to clothe you, and the hamster, to bring you joy. Now that the biscuit is shattered, the hamster dead, and the button broken, they have lost their purpose. But have you? Your purpose is to feed people, clothe people and bring them joy, just like the biscuit, hamster and the button.
The biscuit, hamster and button have failed, but hopefully you will not. Providing, loving and bringing joy to others may bring more joy to you than you can imagine.
i like this story! (:
